Regular Season Round 32: Valencia - Estudiantes 93-69
Date: May 13, 2018
There was no surprise when 11th ranked Movil Estudiantes (14-17) was outplayed on the road by fourth ranked Valencia Basket (22-10) 93-69 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Valencia Basket. Movil Estudiantes was better in third quarter 23-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Valencia Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Movil Estudiantes' 28. Worth to mention a great performance of Montenegrin power forward Bojan Dubljevic (205-91, agency: BeoBasket) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and the former international Alberto Abalde (202-95) who added 13 points and 5 assists during the contest. American-Azerbaijani forward Niklas Caner-Medley (203-83, college: Maryland, agency: BeoBasket) responded with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and American center Alec Brown (216-92, college: Green Bay) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Five Valencia Basket and four Movil Estudiantes players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with FC Barcelona. Loser Movil Estudiantes keeps the eleventh position with 17 games lost. Valencia Basket will face FC Barcelona (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Movil Estudiantes will play against Gran Canaria (#5) and hope to win that game.
