Regular Season Round 31: Maccabi Rishon - Maccabi T-A 73-84

Very expected game in Rishon Le-Zion where 9th ranked Maccabi Rishon (11-20) was defeated by second ranked Maccabi T-A (21-10) 84-73. It looked good early as Maccabi Rishon took a 10-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Maccabi T-A took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 11 points. Maccabi T-A outrebounded Maccabi Rishon 37-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Jake Cohen (208-90, college: Davidson) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 7 rebounds. The former international center Alex Tyus (203-88, college: Florida) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Five Maccabi T-A players scored in double figures. Maccabi T-A's coach Neven Spahija allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American guard Drew Crawford (196-90, college: Northwestern) answered with 21 points and the other American import forward Murphy Holloway (201-90, college: Mississippi) added 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Maccabi Rishon. Maccabi T-A keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Hapoel Holon. Maccabi Rishon lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth place with 20 games lost. Maccabi T-A's next round opponent will be Ironi Nes-Ziona (#8) in Nes Ziyona and are hoping to win another game. Maccabi Rishon will play on the road against Hapoel Jerusalem and hope to win that game.
