Very important is a home loss of second ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (15-9) against eighth ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (9-15) on Wednesday night. Host Rayos de Hermosillo was defeated by Halcones de Ciudad Obregon in a tough game in Hermosillo 87-93. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon outrebounded Rayos de Hermosillo 50-28 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American guard Isaiah Wilkerson (191-90, college: NJIT) who scored 29 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. International center Jose-Israel Gutierrez (206-93) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 18 rebounds. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon's coach Ronald Guillen used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Quinton Chievous (198-92, college: Hampton) who recorded 26 points and 5 assists and the former international point guard Steve Monreal (180-86, college: CS Monterey) added 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains eighth position with 9-15 record. Rayos de Hermosillo at the other side keeps the second place with nine games lost. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon's next round opponent will be higher ranked Aguilas Doradas de Durango (#5) on the road and it may be quite challenging game. Rayos de Hermosillo will play against Frayles de Guasave and hope to win that game.
