Very important is a home loss of Lums (2-3) against Leones (2-3) on Friday night. Host Lums were defeated by Leones in a tough game in Ambato 51-59. Leones forced 20 Lums turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Vee Young (186-89, college: Martin Methodist) who led the winners and scored 27 points and 5 rebounds. Her fellow American import guard Antoinette Thompson (170-90, college: TCU) accounted for 13 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. Worth to mention Young played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. American Angelina Williams (183-83, college: Illinois) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and Brazilian center Kelly Santos (192-79, agency: Interperformances) added 17 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Lums in the defeat. Leones will meet at home Santa Maria in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Lums will play against Deportivo Quito and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
