Regular Season Round 11: Kalamunda E.S. - Mandurah M. 100-101

There was an upset in Kalamunda where higher ranked Suns (5-9) were edged by fourteenth ranked Magic (3-9) 101-100 on Saturday. Magic made 30-of-37 free shots (81.1 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 Suns turnovers. Suns were plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for swingman Jamal Shabazz (198-94, college: Samford) who led his team to a victory scoring 39 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds (was perfect 20-for-20 from the free throw line !!!). Guard Shaun Stewart (180-94, college: Limestone) helped adding 23 points and 6 assists. Center Kevin Davis (206-91, college: Cent.Washington) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 17 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and guard Courtney Belger (187-89, college: Quincy) scored 14 points and 7 assists. Four Magic and five Suns players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Magic moved-up to twelfth place in League. Loser Suns keep the tenth position with nine games lost. Magic will face league's leader Wanneroo in Joondalup in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
