Rather expected game in Mount Waverley where 4th placed McKinnon C. (7-5) was defeated by second ranked Waverley Falcons (8-3) 92-86 on Saturday. Waverley Falcons forced 21 McKinnon C. turnovers. Strangely McKinnon C. outrebounded Waverley Falcons 50-37 including 17 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. It was a great evening for forward Chris Arkell (198-90) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists. The former international guard Daniel Dillon (193-86, college: Arizona) helped adding 19 points and 8 assists. Waverley Falcons' coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Naturalized Croatian forward Ivan Platenik (201-83, college: Alaska-Anch.) responded with 18 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Dillon Stith (200-92, college: St.Vincent) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Five Waverley Falcons and four McKinnon C. players scored in double figures. Waverley Falcons maintains second place in League with 8-3 record having just eight point less than leader Mackay M. Loser McKinnon C. dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. Waverley Falcons will face Magic (#4) in Hawthorn in the next round. McKinnon C. will play on the road against Eltham Wildcats and hope to win that game.
