Regular Season Round 11: NW Tasmania - Mt Gambier 87-77

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Ulverstone where 5th ranked Mount Gambier Pioneers (3-5) were defeated by sixth ranked NW Tasmania Thunder (5-4) 87-77 on Saturday. NW Tasmania Thunder outrebounded Mount Gambier Pioneers 50-34 including a 37-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for guard Mason Bragg (182-93) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. American forward Jeremiah Ingram (201-93, college: N.C.Central) helped adding 19 points and 9 rebounds. NW Tasmania Thunder's coach Sam Armstrong allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Naturalized British forward Lewis Thomas (203-92, college: W.Oregon) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds and swingman Tim Coenraad (201-85, college: Nova SE) scored 21 points and 9 rebounds. NW Tasmania Thunder maintains sixth place in League with 5-4 record which they share with defeated Mount Gambier Pioneers. Loser Mount Gambier Pioneers dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. NW Tasmania Thunder will face league's leader Ballarat Miners in Wendouree in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
