Regular Season Round 11: Cairns M. - NGC Seahawks 100-70

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked NGC Seahawks (0-6) were outplayed on the road by sixth ranked Cairns Marlins (4-2) 100-70 on Saturday. Cairns Marlins made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. Cairns Marlins outrebounded NGC Seahawks 46-25 including a 34-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by NGC Seahawks' players. It was a great evening for guard Anthony Fisher (187-94) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists (perfect behind the arc making all five shots). Guard Kuany Kuany (201, college: Chaminade) helped adding 20 points and 5 rebounds. Five Cairns Marlins players scored in double figures. American swingman Jerron Jamerson (193, college: Goshen) responded with 26 points and guard Cameron Goldfinch (198, college: Newman) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cairns Marlins moved-up to third place in League. Newly promoted NGC Seahawks still closes the standings with six games lost. Cairns Marlins will face Townsville Heat (#9) in Hermit Park in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game.
