Regular Season Round 11: Woodville W. - Eastern M. 83-85

Date: May 19, 2018
Everything could happen in Flinders Park at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Eastern Mavericks and 8th ranked Woodville Warriors had identical 1-7 record. But Woodville Warriors were not able to use a home court advantage and were edged by the opponent from Mt. Barker 85-83 on Saturday night. Woodville Warriors were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American forward William Wise (206-92, college: Dominican, NY) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Jake Rios (188-86, college: Georgia Coll.) helped adding 32 points. Wise is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American swingman Everett Osborne (193, college: UTRGV) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists and power forward Alex Maiorana produced a double-double by scoring 19 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks. Four Woodville Warriors players scored in double figures. Eastern Mavericks (2-7) moved-up to ninth place in League. Loser Woodville Warriors dropped to the tenth position with eight games lost. Eastern Mavericks will face higher ranked Central District Lions (#8) in Gawler in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Woodville Warriors will play at home against Norwood Flames and hope to win that game.
