Very expected game in Tenerife where 12th ranked Blusens Monbus (14-19) was defeated by eighth ranked CB Canarias (18-15) 73-69. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. It looked good early as Blusens Monbus took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then CB Canarias had a 11-7 second period charge getting the lead and Blusens Monbus was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 69-73. CB Canarias dominated on the defensive end, holding Blusens Monbus to just 7 points in second quarter. They made 22-of-27 charity shots (81.5 percent) during the game, while Blusens Monbus only scored six points from the stripe. 24 personal fouls committed by Blusens Monbus helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Polish swingman Mateusz Ponitka (196-93) nailed 23 points for the winning side and Greek swingman Kostas Vasiliadis (200-84) accounted for 18 points. American forward Benjamin Simons (203-91, college: Drake) came up with 24 points and Ukrainian center Artem Pustovyi (218-92, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) added 16 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Blusens Monbus in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. CB Canarias moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Andorra. Blusens Monbus at the other side keeps the twelfth position with 19 games lost. CB Canarias' next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Real Betis (#18) in Sevilla which should be an easy win for them. Blusens Monbus will play at home against the league's second-placed Baskonia (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
