Regular Season Round 11: Canberra G. - Albury W.B. 76-85

No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Bandits (4-5) won against on the road bottom-ranked Canberra Gunners (0-7) 85-76 on Saturday. They outrebounded Canberra Gunners 45-32 including 33 on the defensive glass. Canberra Gunners were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American power forward Lamar Mallory (201-90, college: Glenville St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import power forward Rashad Hassan (203-89, college: Savannah St.) helped adding 17 points and 15 rebounds. Mallory is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American center Eric Gaff (208-87, college: Grace Coll.) responded with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Marshall Nelson (188-94, college: Wayland Baptist) scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Bandits moved-up to fifth place in League. Loser Canberra Gunners still closes the standings with seven games lost. Bandits will face higher ranked Geelong Supercats (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Canberra Gunners will play against Diamond Valley Eagles (#7) in Greensborough and hope to get finally their first victory.
