Regular Season Round 33: Valencia - FC Barcelona 70-71

The biggest surprise of round 33 was guest FC Barcelona's (#3) road victory over Valencia Basket (#4) 71-70 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Valencia Basket. The guests trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 24-18 charge, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was French point guard Thomas Heurtel (189-89, agency: BeoBasket) who scored 15 points. The former international forward Victor Claver (207-88) chipped in 10 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Montenegrin power forward Bojan Dubljevic (205-91, agency: BeoBasket) who recorded 10 points and 9 rebounds and the former international Alberto Abalde (202-95) added 11 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Valencia Basket's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. FC Barcelona maintains third place with 23-10 record having seven points less than leader Real Madrid. Defending champion Valencia Basket keeps the fourth position with 11 games lost. FC Barcelona are looking forward to face Zaragoza (#16) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Valencia Basket will play against Andorra (#7) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
