Regular Season Round 11: Diamond V.E. - BA CoE 77-68

Date: May 20, 2018
There was a surprise result in Greensborough where seventh ranked Diamond Valley Eagles (2-8) defeated second-ranked BA CoE (6-4) 77-68 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But BA CoE won third quarter 18-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Diamond Valley Eagles won last quarter 19-12. They also forced 21 BA CoE turnovers and outrebounded them 40-27 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American forward Mike Best (208-93, college: Cal-Irvine) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points and 9 rebounds. New Zealand forward Dyson King-Hawea (200-92) helped adding 15 points and 9 rebounds. Power forward Samson Froling (210-0) responded with 14 points and 8 rebounds and Argentinian center Francisco Caffaro (213-0, college: Virginia) scored 14 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. BA CoE's coach Adam Caporn tested twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Diamond Valley Eagles maintains seventh place in League with 2-8 record. Loser BA CoE dropped to the third position with four games lost. Diamond Valley Eagles will face Canberra Gunners (#8) at home in the next round. BA CoE will play against Frankston Blues (#8) and hope to win that game.
