Regular Season Round 11: McKinnon C. - Hawthorn M. 75-83

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 4th placed McKinnon C. (7-5) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Magic (7-2) 83-75 on Sunday. It was a great evening for American guard Nelson Kirksey (190-89, college: UMKC) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 8 rebounds. Jack Barry (-94) helped adding 16 points and 9 assists. Four Magic players scored in double figures. Magic's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Naturalized Croatian forward Ivan Platenik (201-83, college: Alaska-Anch.) responded with 18 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Dillon Stith (200-92, college: St.Vincent) scored 6 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Magic moved-up to fourth place in League. Loser McKinnon C. dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. Magic will face league's leader Ringwood Hawks in Heathmont in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. McKinnon C. will play on the road against Eltham Wildcats (#3) and hope to win that game.
