Regular Season Round 25: Hermosillo - Guasave 100-102

The most exciting game of round 25 in the CIBACOPA took place in Hermosillo. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of much higher ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (15-10) to sixth ranked Frayles de Guasave (14-11) 102-100 on Tuesday evening. Frayles de Guasave forced 19 Rayos de Hermosillo turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward Sammy Yeager (193-89, college: CS Fullerton) stepped up and scored 36 points (!!!) and 5 assists for the winners and his fellow American import forward Decensae White (198-88, college: San Francisco St.) chipped in 21 points and 11 rebounds. White is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side American guard Michael Bryson (193-94, college: UCSB) responded with 26 points and 8 rebounds and the former international center Joaquin Villanueva (207-86) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Rayos de Hermosillo players scored in double figures. Frayles de Guasave moved-up to third place, which they share with Durango. Rayos de Hermosillo at the other side keeps the second position with ten games lost. Frayles de Guasave will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Rayos de Hermosillo will play again at home against Frayles de Guasave and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
