Regular Season Round 26: Los Mochis - Tijuana 79-88

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (8-18) were defeated at home by sixth ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (14-12) 88-79 on Wednesday. American forward Mychal Ammons (198-92, college: S.Alabama) scored 20 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Trayvon Lathan (201-84, college: Chowan) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Lathan is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Bahamas forward Tavario Miller (203-94, college: Texas A&M) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and American forward Stedmon Lemon (198-92, college: Johnson C. Smith) scored 25 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Tijuana Zonkeys moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Durango and Guasave. Loser Pioneros Los Mochis stay at the bottom position with 18 games lost. Tijuana Zonkeys will meet at home league's second-placed Rayos de Hermosillo in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Pioneros Los Mochis will play against Ostioneros de Guaymas (#3) and hope to secure a win.
