The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Real Madrid (30-4) in Las Palmas on Thursday night. Visitors were defeated by fifth ranked Gran Canaria (20-14) 88-78. It ended at the same time the 11-game winning streak of Real Madrid. The hosts trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 47-31 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Gran Canaria looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Real Madrid's players. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Pablo Aguilar (202-89) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 5 rebounds. Swedish swingman Marcus Eriksson (201-93) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Four Gran Canaria players scored in double figures. American-Azerbaijani Jaycee Carroll (188-83) replied with 18 points and Montenegrin Dino Radoncic (202-99) added 12 points in the effort for Real Madrid. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gran Canaria maintains fifth position with 20-14 record. Real Madrid at the other side still keeps top place with four games lost.
