Regular Season Round 4: Toros - Trotamundos 91-88

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Trotamundos (3-1) in Maracay on Thursday night. Visitors were edged by fifth ranked Toros (1-3) 91-88. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Trotamundos. Toros made 29-of-37 free shots (78.4 percent) during the game. 25 personal fouls committed by Trotamundos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Jamaican center Dane Johnson (208-86, college: Hofstra) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 10 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks and international forward Elder Gimenez (186-91) who added 21 points during the contest. Toros' coach Israel Sarmiento used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American power forward Jerai Grant (203-89, college: Clemson, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and the former international guard Jhornan Zamora (196-89) scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. Five Toros and four Trotamundos players scored in double figures. Toros left bottom position moving up to third place in Western Conference. Trotamundos at the other side keep the second position with one game lost. Toros are looking forward to face league's leader Guaros in Barquisimeto in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Trotamundos will play at home against Gaiteros and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
