Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Bendigo Braves (6-4) won against at home 7th ranked Sabres (2-10) 81-73 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 19-10 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Bendigo Braves outrebounded Sabres 43-28 including 30 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Bendigo Braves made 13 blocks. The best player for the winners was American point guard Jeremy Kendle (186-88, college: Bellarmine) who scored 20 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. The other American import forward Ray Turner (206-90, college: Texas A&M) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Four Bendigo Braves players scored in double figures. Sabres' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Bendigo Braves maintains fifth position in League with 6-4 record. Loser Sabres keep the seventh place with ten games lost. Bendigo Braves will face league's second-placed Kilsyth Cobras on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Sabres will play against Bandits (#6) in Albury and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
