Very important is a road loss of second ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (16-11) against fourth ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (15-12) on Friday night. Visiting Rayos de Hermosillo was defeated by Tijuana Zonkeys in a tough game in Tijuana 67-72. Tijuana Zonkeys brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was American guard Trayvon Lathan (201-84, college: Chowan) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Mychal Ammons (198-92, college: S.Alabama) chipped in 11 points and 9 rebounds. Lathan is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Tijuana Zonkeys' coach James Penny allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Quinton Chievous (198-92, college: Hampton) who recorded 15 points and 6 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and Panamanian center Jordan Henriquez-Roberts (214-89, college: Kansas St.) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Five Tijuana Zonkeys and four Rayos de Hermosillo players scored in double figures. Tijuana Zonkeys moved-up to third place. Rayos de Hermosillo at the other side keeps the second position with 11 games lost. Tijuana Zonkeys' next round opponent will be again league's second-placed Rayos de Hermosillo at home and it will be for sure the game of the week.
