Eighth-ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (10-17) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Garra Canera de Navolato (18-9) on Friday. The visitors from Navolato managed to secure only one-point victory 91-90. However their fans expected much easier game. Garra Canera de Navolato made 16-of-17 free shots (94.1 percent) during the game. It was a good game for American guard Hameed Ali (188-93, college: Texas A&M-CC) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). His fellow American import Kevin Rogers (206-86, college: Baylor) contributed with 19 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American guard Isaiah Wilkerson (191-90, college: NJIT) answered with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and American-Lebanese guard Geron Johnson (190-92, college: Memphis) added 23 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Halcones de Ciudad Obregon. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Garra Canera de Navolato maintains first place with 18-9 record. Defending champion Halcones de Ciudad Obregon keeps the eighth position with 17 games lost. They share it with Mazatlan. Garra Canera de Navolato will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon will play again at home against the league's leader Garra Canera de Navolato (#1) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
