Very significant was Mavericks' (#8) 84-75 road victory against 7th ranked Lions in League. Mavericks made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Lions 55-41 including 24 on the offensive glass. Mavericks players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. The winners were led by American power forward Carmen Tyson-Thomas (180-91, college: Syracuse, agency: Two Points) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 26 points, 18 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals and forward Samantha Lubcke (188-96, college: Utah Valley, agency: AgainHello) supported her with 22 points and 14 rebounds. Even a double-double of 21 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks by center Leah Swain (192-88) did not help to save the game for Lions. American guard Shawnte Goff (173-94, college: UTRGV) added 22 points and 7 rebounds. Four Lions players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Mavericks (3-7) moved-up to seventh place in League. Lions at the other side dropped to the ninth position with eight games lost. Mavericks will play against higher ranked Tigers (#5) in Morphett Vale in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Lions will play on the road against Flames (#4) in Marden and hope to get back on the winning track.
