There was no surprise in Mount Waverley where 5th ranked Magic (7-4) was defeated by second ranked Waverley Falcons (9-3) 98-85 on Saturday. Waverley Falcons looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists. The best player for the winners was center Adrien Sturt (209-86, college: Snow CC) who scored 25 points and 6 rebounds. The former international guard Daniel Dillon (193-86, college: Arizona) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points, 5 rebounds and 13 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Nelson Kirksey (190-89, college: UMKC) who recorded 21 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and Jack Barry (-94) added 14 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 7 steals respectively. Five Waverley Falcons and four Magic players scored in double figures. Magic's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Waverley Falcons maintains second position in League with 9-3 record having just ten point less than leader Mackay M. Loser Magic keeps the fifth place with four games lost. Waverley Falcons will face Eltham Wildcats (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Magic will play against Hume City Broncos in Tullamarine and hope to win that game.
