Regular Season Round 12: Diamond V.E. - Canberra G. 84-61

The game between closely ranked teams ended with bottom-ranked Canberra Gunners' (0-9) road loss to seventh ranked Diamond Valley Eagles (3-8) 61-84 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 84-61. Diamond Valley Eagles dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Canberra Gunners' 38. Diamond Valley Eagles looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was New Zealand forward Dyson King-Hawea (200-92) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. American forward Daniel Camps (196-94, college: Queens, NC) chipped in 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Diamond Valley Eagles players scored in double figures. Diamond Valley Eagles' coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was center Ben Allen (211-86, college: St.Mary's, CA) who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and American center Eric Gaff (208-87, college: Grace Coll.) added 10 points and 12 rebounds respectively. Diamond Valley Eagles maintains seventh position in League with 3-8 record. Loser Canberra Gunners still closes the standings with nine games lost. Diamond Valley Eagles will have a break next round. Canberra Gunners will play at home against NW Tasmania Thunder (#6) and hope to get finally their first victory.
