Regular Season Round 33: Maccabi Haifa - Hapoel Holon 84-78

Winner League round 33 caused change at the leadership position. Eleventh defeat of league's leader Hapoel Holon (22-11) against twelfth ranked Maccabi Haifa (11-22) 84-78 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Hapoel Holon. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-18. But Hapoel Holon won third quarter 28-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maccabi Haifa made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. It was a good game for international Oz Blayzer (199-92) who led his team to a victory with 16 points. The former international Dagan Yavzuri (193-85) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Four Maccabi Haifa players scored in double figures. Maccabi Haifa's coach Barak Peleg used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Tu Holloway (183-89, college: Xavier) answered with 22 points and 5 assists and naturalized American forward Joe Alexander (203-86, college: W.Virginia) added 19 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Hapoel Holon. Maccabi Haifa moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Maccabi Rishon. Hapoel Holon at the other side dropped to the second position with 11 games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Maccabi T-A.
