Regular Season Round 29: Mazatlan - Tijuana 88-86

Important game to mention about took place in Mazatlan. Ninth ranked Lobos UAD Mazatlan (12-17) saved a 2-point victory at home edging second-ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (16-13) 88-86 on Tuesday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Tijuana Zonkeys. American forward Carl Hall (202-89, college: Wichita St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Jeff Ledbetter (190-88, college: Idaho) contributed with 19 points and 6 assists for the winners. American guard Trayvon Lathan (201-84, college: Chowan) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and naturalized American swingman Karim Scott (196-88) added 19 points and 6 assists in the effort for Tijuana Zonkeys. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Lobos UAD Mazatlan have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Obregon. Tijuana Zonkeys at the other side keep the second position with 13 games lost. They share it with Culiacan and Hermosillo. Lobos UAD Mazatlan will again play against higher ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tijuana Zonkeys will have a break next round.
