Very important is a road loss of third ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (16-14) against ninth ranked Lobos UAD Mazatlan (13-17) on Wednesday night. Visiting Tijuana Zonkeys were defeated by Lobos UAD Mazatlan in a tough game in Mazatlan 82-89. Lobos UAD Mazatlan made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Lobos UAD Mazatlan had a 26-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Carl Hall (202-89, college: Wichita St.) notched a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) to lead the effort and the other American import guard Jeff Ledbetter (190-88, college: Idaho) supported him with 21 points and 7 assists. Even a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds by American guard Trayvon Lathan (201-84, college: Chowan) did not help to save the game for Tijuana Zonkeys. The former international forward Stephen Soriano (200-85, college: Colorado Mesa) added 15 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Tijuana Zonkeys' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Lobos UAD Mazatlan have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Obregon. Loser Tijuana Zonkeys keep the third position with 14 games lost. They share it with Culiacan. Lobos UAD Mazatlan will meet league's second-placed Rayos de Hermosillo on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Tijuana Zonkeys will play against the league's leader Garra Canera de Navolato where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
