Regular Season Round 31: Culiacan - Guasave 87-85

The most exciting game of round 31 in the CIBACOPA took place in Culiacan. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Frayles de Guasave (15-16) to third ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (17-14) 87-85 on Friday evening. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for guard Bruce Massey (190-90, college: Middle Tenn.St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds. Forward DuVaughn Maxwell (201-91, college: Hampton) helped adding 17 points and 11 rebounds. At the losing side forward Devin White (203-88, college: SUNO) responded with 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and forward Eric Frederick (203-88, college: Texas Wesleyan) scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Caballeros de Culiacan maintains third place with 17-14 record having just three points less than leader Navolato. Frayles de Guasave at the other side keeps the sixth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Durango. Caballeros de Culiacan are again looking forward to face Frayles de Guasave (#7) at home in the next round. Frayles de Guasave will have a break next round.
