Regular Season Round 8: Guaiqueries - Gigantes 83-82

There was a change at the LPB leadership position after last games. Round 8 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Gigantes (5-4). They were edged by fourth ranked Guaiqueries (3-4) 83-82 on Friday night. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Derwin Ramirez (191-82) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Martin Escobar (185-88) who added 19 points and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) during the contest. The former international forward Axiers Sucre (199-78) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds and American guard Keyron Sheard (188-86, college: Chattanooga, agency: Haylett Sports) scored 22 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gigantes' coach Gustavo Garcia rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Guaiqueries moved-up to third place in Eastern Conference. Gigantes lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the second position with four games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Trotamundos. Gigantes will play next round against Marinos trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Guaiqueries will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
