Regular Season Round 13: Toowoomba M. - Sunshine CP 74-96

Date: June 3, 2018
There was no surprise in Toowoomba where bottom-ranked Mountaineers (0-8) were crushed by third ranked Sunshine CP (6-1) 96-74 on Sunday. Sunshine CP made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 24 Mountaineers turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 36 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Mountaineers' players. The former international center Abby Bishop (189-88) fired 25 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. The former international point guard Natalie Hurst (164-83) chipped in 27 points, 9 assists and 5 steals. Kimberlee Wilson produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists and American swingman Donnaizha Fountain (183, college: Seton Hall, agency: Gamble Sports Management) added 20 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sunshine CP moved-up to second place in League. Loser Mountaineers still closes the standings with eight games lost. Sunshine CP will face Capitals (#7) in Brisbane in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Mountaineers will play at home against Force (#4) and hope to get finally their first victory.
