ALBA Berlin got to the winning start of their BBL Finals campaign. They stormed past Bayern in Munich in the opener. ALBA Berlin made 32-of-37 free shots (86.5 percent) during the game, while Bayern Muenchen only scored fifteen points from the stripe. ALBA Berlin shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 64.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. 28 personal fouls committed by Bayern Muenchen helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Lithuanian forward Marius Grigonis (198-94) fired 30 points for the winners. American forward Luke Sikma (203-89, college: Portland) chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Serbian guard Stefan Jovic (198-90) produced 16 points and 7 assists and international Danilo Barthel (208-91) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five ALBA Berlin and four Bayern Muenchen players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
