Marinos can celebrate finally their first win this season after five consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Guaiqueries (3-5) 85-73 on Monday. Marinos dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Guaiqueries' 14 and made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. Forward Jose Sojo (194-96) scored 22 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his ten free throws !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and Edgar Martinez (190-97) chipped in 21 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side the former international forward Derwin Ramirez (191-82) responded with 21 points and the former international forward Tomas Aguilera (198-77) scored 8 points and 12 rebounds. Marinos maintains fifth position in Eastern Conference with 1-5 record. Loser Guaiqueries keep the fourth place with five games lost. Marinos will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Guaiqueries will play against the league's second-placed Bucaneros (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
