Regular Season Round 5: UPDF - Charging Rhinos 61-65

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Charging Rhinos and 12th ranked UPDF had identical 1-7 record. But UPDF was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Kampala 65-61 on Wednesday night. Charging Rhinos forced 19 UPDF turnovers. Forward Abel Omomgin (-89) stepped up and scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and the former international center Sam Gombya (213-89) chipped in 8 points and 8 rebounds. Charging Rhinos' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Forward Henry Okoth (-99) responded with 19 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Felix Mukunzi (193) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Despite that victory Charging Rhinos went down to eleventh position due to points difference. UPDF lost their fifth game in a row. They stay at the bottom place with eight games lost. Charging Rhinos will meet at home higher ranked Sharing Youth (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. UPDF will play against City Oilers (#4) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
