Bottom-ranked Gaiteros (0-8) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their eighth consecutive match to third ranked Cocodrilos (4-6) 98-59. Cocodrilos dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Gaiteros' 24. They outrebounded Gaiteros 45-32 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Cocodrilos players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Gaiteros' players. It was a good game for the former international forward Lenin Lopez (198-91) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Tony Mitchell (203-92, college: N.Texas) contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Cocodrilos players scored in double figures. Samuel Marquez replied with 19 points and 7 rebounds and guard David Cedeno (191-83) added 17 points in the effort for Gaiteros. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Cocodrilos have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 4-6 record having five points less than leader Gigantes. Gaiteros at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. Cocodrilos' next round opponent will be Toros (#4) in Maracay. Gaiteros will play at home against the league's second-placed Guaros and hope to get finally their first victory.
