State League top team - Lightning (13-1) added another victory to their record on Friday. This time they beat seventh ranked Senators (7-9) in Bullcreek 82-77. Lightning looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Lightning made 8 blocks. American players dominated the game. Swingman Ali Schwagmeyer (177-90, college: Quincy) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Sydnee Fipps (178, college: Cal-Davis) contributed with 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Lightning players scored in double figures. Lightning's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Power forward Amber Land (188-85, college: E.Michigan) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Janee Johnson (185-92, college: Seton Hall) added 22 points in the effort for Senators. Lightning maintains first position in League with 13-1 record. Loser Senators keep the seventh place with nine games lost. Lightning will face Cougars (#9) in Hamilton Hill in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Senators will play at home against Suns and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
