Regular Season Round 14: NGC Seahawks - Gladstone PCP 91-67

There was no surprise when 13th ranked Power (1-7) was outleveled by sixth ranked Seahawks (5-3) in Runaway Bay 91-67 on Friday. Seahawks made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Power turnovers and outrebounded them 51-34 including 19 on the offensive glass. Seahawks looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Guard Casey Samuels (182-94) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 4 assists. American center Leeza Burdgess (194-90, college: La Salle) contributed with 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Seahawks' coach felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. New Zealand power forward Ashleigh Kelman-Poto (186-91, college: East Central) replied with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Amanda Frost (174-91, college: N.Arizona) added 16 points in the effort for Power. Seahawks moved-up to fifth place in League. Loser Power dropped to the fourteenth position with seven games lost. Seahawks will face Meteorettes (#10) in Mackay in the next round where they are favorite. Power will play at home against Dolphins (#11) and hope to win that game.
