Regular Season Round 5: CDE Esp. Talca - Aleman 93-89

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Aleman (2-1) on the court of fourth ranked Espanol de Talca on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Espanol de Talca 93-89. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Aleman's 36. They outrebounded Aleman 53-37 including a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. 37 personal fouls committed by Aleman helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Guard Pablo Barraza (184-94) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Tomas Pavez chipped in 19 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Jonathan Alvial (188-88) responded with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Rodolfo Caceres (188-81) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!). Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Aleman's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Espanol de Talca maintains fourth place in Pro with 2-3 record. Aleman at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. Espanol de Talca will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Aleman will play against Vial Basket and is hoping to win this game.
