An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Puerto Ordaz. First ranked Gigantes faced their biggest opponent Guaiqueries. Host Gigantes (8-3) defeated guests from Porlamar (5-6) 89-74. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Guaiqueries. Guaiqueries were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American Quinnel Brown (198-83, college: Auburn) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 5 rebounds. The former international forward Axiers Sucre (199-78) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Four Gigantes players scored in double figures. Greek Fotios Lampropoulos (206-83) answered with 16 points and 7 rebounds and the former international forward Derwin Ramirez (191-82) added 9 points and 7 assists in the effort for Guaiqueries. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gigantes have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 8-3 record. Guaiqueries at the other side dropped to the third position with six games lost. Gigantes will again play against Guaiqueries (#3) in Porlamar in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Guaiqueries will have a break next round.
