Regular Season Round 14: Toros - Cocodrilos 72-98

An interesting game for Cocodrilos (5-7) which played road game in Maracay against one of their biggest challengers Toros (4-10). Third ranked Cocodrilos had an easy win 98-72. Cocodrilos dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Toros' 38. Cocodrilos forced 19 Toros turnovers. American forward Tony Mitchell (203-92, college: N.Texas) scored 25 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the former international forward Lenin Lopez (198-91) chipped in 13 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Four Cocodrilos players scored in double figures. The former international center Alejandro Barrios (204-79) responded with 20 points and 5 rebounds and American-Jamaican center Dane Johnson (208-86, college: Hofstra) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cocodrilos maintains third position with 5-7 record having three points less than leader Gigantes, which they share with Guaiqueries and Bucaneros. Toros at the other side keep the fourth place with ten games lost. Cocodrilos will play against Gaiteros (#5) in Maracaibo in the next round. Toros will have a break next round.
