Regular Season Round 37: Los Mochis - Hermosillo 87-84

The most exciting game of round 37 in the CIBACOPA took place in Los Mochis. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of much higher ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (21-16) to ninth ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (16-21) 87-84 on Tuesday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Pioneros Los Mochis dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Rayos de Hermosillo's 40. Pioneros Los Mochis looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward Stedmon Lemon (198-92, college: Johnson C. Smith) stepped up and scored 28 points and 7 assists for the winners and Bahamas forward Tavario Miller (203-94, college: Texas A&M) chipped in 20 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). At the losing side American point guard Luke Moyer (185-93, college: John Brown) responded with 18 points (perfect behind the arc making all six shots !!!) and the former international point guard Steve Monreal (180-86, college: CS Monterey) scored 16 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Pioneros Los Mochis moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Guasave. Rayos de Hermosillo at the other side keeps the second position with 16 games lost. Pioneros Los Mochis is again looking forward to face league's second-placed Rayos de Hermosillo at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rayos de Hermosillo will have a break next round.
