There was an upset in Kalamunda where higher ranked Flames (10-8) were defeated by ninth ranked Suns (9-11) 114-102 on Saturday. Suns made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game, while Flames only scored seven points from the stripe. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American guard Courtney Belger (187-89, college: Quincy) fired 21 points and 9 assists for the winners. Power forward Louis Timms (206-91, college: Wayland Baptist) chipped in 19 points and 8 rebounds. Suns' coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Greg Hire (201-87, college: Augusta) produced a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals (on 14-of-16 shooting from the field) and forward Justin Beard (196-96) added 21 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Suns maintains ninth position in League with 9-11 record. Loser Flames dropped to the fifth place with eight games lost. Suns will face Cougars (#11) in Hamilton Hill in the next round. Flames will play at home against Slammers (#12) and hope to win that game.
