Very significant was Tigers' (#4) 76-72 road victory against 3rd placed Tornadoes in League. It looked good early as Tornadoes took a 10-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Tigers took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 4 points. They made 27-of-31 charity shots (87.1 percent) during the game, while Tornadoes only scored seven points from the stripe. Strangely Tornadoes outrebounded Tigers 48-33 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Tornadoes were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Monique Conti (165-99) who led the winners and scored 22 points and 9 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Guard Rebecca Cole (178-92) accounted for 24 points for the winning side. Guard Alex Wilson (174-94) came up with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists and guard Lauren Nicholson (183-93, college: St.Mary's, CA) added 19 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Tornadoes in the defeat. Tigers (8-5) moved-up to third place in League. Tornadoes at the other side dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. Tigers will play against Diamond Valley Eagles (#5) in Greensborough in the next round. Tornadoes will play on the road against Sabres in Cheltenham and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
