The game between closely ranked teams ended with ninth ranked Meteorettes' (5-5) road victory over 10th ranked Capitals (3-5) 84-79 on Saturday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-17. But Capitals won second period 23-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Meteorettes looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Mia Loyd (180-94, college: N.Dakota) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Her fellow American import forward Ruvanna Campbell (189-93, college: Ill.-Chicago) helped adding 18 points and 13 rebounds. The best for the losing side was guard Amy Lewis (175-86, college: Troy) with 23 points and 8 assists and American forward Akilah Bethel (183-93, college: LSU) scored 12 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Meteorettes maintains ninth place in League with 5-5 record. Loser Capitals keep the tenth position with five games lost. Meteorettes will face Rollers (#13) in Gold Coast in the next round. Capitals' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Brisbane to the arena Brisbane Spartans.
