Very expected game in Cheltenham where 7th ranked Ballarat Rush (4-8) was crushed by third ranked Sabres (9-5) 84-65 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 84-65. Sabres forced 20 Ballarat Rush turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for the former international Rachel Jarry (185-91) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 9 rebounds and 11 assists. British guard Eilidh Simpson (170-92, college: St.Francis, NY) helped adding 9 points and 5 assists. Sabres' coach used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was Taiwanese center Hsi-Le Bao (196-90) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds and forward Kristy Rinaldi (181-86) scored 18 points and 8 rebounds. Sabres maintains third place in League with 9-5 record having just one point less than leader Bendigo LB. Loser Ballarat Rush keeps the seventh position with eight games lost. Sabres will face Tornadoes (#4) in Launceston in the next round. Ballarat Rush will play on the road against the league's leader Spectres in East Burwood and hope to win that game.
