Regular Season Round 15: Sunshine CP - Sunshine CR 87-92

Very important is a home loss of first ranked Sunshine CP (9-2) against ninth ranked Sunshine CR (5-4) on Saturday night. Host Sunshine CP was defeated by Sunshine CR in a tough game in Cotton Tree 87-92. Sunshine CR dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Sunshine CP's 36 and made 19-of-22 charity shots (86.4 percent) during the game. It was a good game for American guard Leah Scott (183-93, college: Marshall) who led her team to a victory with 24 points and 7 rebounds. Carlie Smith contributed with 18 points, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Five Sunshine CR players scored in double figures. The former international center Abby Bishop (189-88) answered with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and the former international point guard Natalie Hurst (164-83) added 21 points and 9 assists in the effort for Sunshine CP. Sunshine CR moved-up to seventh place in League. Sunshine CP at the other side dropped to the second position with two games lost. Sunshine CR's next round opponent will be higher ranked Force (#3) in Booval and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sunshine CP will play at home against Brisbane Spartans and hope to win that game.
