No shocking result in a game in Gawler where sixth ranked South Adelaide Panthers (5-8) defeated 8th ranked Central District Lions (3-10) 108-101 on Saturday. South Adelaide Panthers made 27-of-35 free shots (77.1 percent) during the game. They also forced 25 Central District Lions turnovers. Strangely Central District Lions outrebounded South Adelaide Panthers 48-29 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Central District Lions were plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Eian Davis (185-90, college: Albertus Magnus) fired 34 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. The other American import guard Ivory Young (190-95, college: Utah Valley) chipped in 22 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. American forward Ricardo Martin (203-92, college: Lander) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds and Jimma Dau added 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Central District Lions' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. South Adelaide Panthers maintains sixth position in League with 5-8 record. Loser Central District Lions dropped to the ninth place with ten games lost. South Adelaide Panthers will face league's second-placed Norwood Flames in Marden in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Central District Lions will play on the road against the league's leader Noarlunga City Southern Tigers (#1) in Morphett Vale and hope to win that game.
