There was no surprise in Cotton Tree where 7th ranked Sunshine CP (5-6) was crushed by second ranked Sunshine CR (8-1) 116-88 on Saturday. Sunshine CR made 24-of-30 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Sunshine CP was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Isaih Tueta (187-91) fired 24 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners. American guard Lance Hurdle (188-87, college: Miami, FL) chipped in 26 points and 4 steals. Five Sunshine CR players scored in double figures. American guard CJ Massingale (191-82, college: Metro St.) produced 24 points and 9 rebounds and his fellow American import Roy Booker (191-84, college: SE Missouri St.) added 25 points and 5 assists (made all of his eight free throws) respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sunshine CR maintains second position in League with 8-1 record behind leader Mackay M. Loser Sunshine CP dropped to the eighth place with six games lost. Sunshine CR will face Ipswich Force (#13) in Booval in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Sunshine CP will play at home against Brisbane Spartans (#14) and hope to win that game.
