The game between closely ranked teams ended with second ranked Flames' (9-1) road victory over 3rd placed Force (6-1) 98-82 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Flames. Force was better in third quarter 28-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Flames forced 29 Force turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for forward Darcee Garbin (187-94) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. New Zealand guard Micaela Cocks (174-86, college: Oregon) helped adding 17 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Four Flames players scored in double figures. Flames' coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Amanda Johnson with 32 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists and 7 steals and Lithuanian forward Gintare Mazionyte (188-91, college: Texas) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Flames keep a position of League leader. Loser Force keeps the third place with one game lost. Flames will face Power (#14) in Gladstone in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Force will play at home against Sunshine CR (#7) and hope to win that game.
