Regular Season Round 16: Perry Lakes H. - Geraldton B. 97-73

Date: June 17, 2018
There was an upset in Floreat where much higher ranked Buccaneers (14-3) were outplayed by seventh ranked Hawks (10-8) 97-73 on Sunday. Hawks outrebounded Buccaneers 50-38 including a 37-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Hawks made 7 blocks. The former international forward Ben Purser (200-90, college: Augusta) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Guard Ryan Smith (192-92) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. Five Hawks players scored in double figures. American forward Colter Lasher (201-94, college: Houston Baptist, agency: Blacktop Management) produced 16 points and 5 assists and his fellow American import center Liam Hunt (198, college: Hope International) added 10 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hawks moved-up to fourth place in League. Loser Buccaneers keep the second position with three games lost. Hawks will face higher ranked Redbacks (#3) in Northbridge in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Buccaneers will play at home against Eagles and hope to win that game.
