Everything went according to plan in Wendouree where fifth ranked Diamond Valley Eagles (7-7) outscored 7th ranked Ballarat Rush (4-8) 84-62 on Sunday. Diamond Valley Eagles made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game, while Ballarat Rush only scored three points from the stripe. Diamond Valley Eagles forced 20 Ballarat Rush turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for the former international power forward Lauren Scherf (196-96) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds. International power forward Eziyoda Magbegor (176-99) helped adding 11 points and 10 rebounds. Diamond Valley Eagles' coach felt very confident using entire bench saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was Taiwanese center Hsi-Le Bao (196-90) with 21 points and 5 rebounds (perfect behind the arc making all five shots) and American guard Courtney Walker (173-94, college: Texas A&M) scored 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Diamond Valley Eagles maintains fifth place in League with 7-7 record. Loser Ballarat Rush keeps the seventh position with eight games lost. Diamond Valley Eagles will face higher ranked Tigers (#3) in Melbourne in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ballarat Rush will play on the road against the league's leader Spectres (#1) in East Burwood and hope to win that game.
